What are the 4 stages of lung cancer?

This video is intended for non-US residents.

Stage 1 and stage 2 are called early stage disease. These stages are treated with surgery to remove the section of lung that has cancer.

Stage 3 is considered locally advanced disease. Treatment for locally advanced disease may include chemotherapy, biologic treatment, radiotherapy (radiation), targeted therapy, or combination therapy after chemotherapy.

Stage 4 is advanced disease that has spread outside the lungs to one or more organs. Treatment for advanced disease may include chemotherapy, biologic treatment, radiotherapy (radiation), targeted therapy, or combination therapy.
