The Hope Murals Project @ The Lincoln Memorial – Washington D.C.

In front of the historic Lincoln Memorial, The Hope Murals Project and NCCS joined hundreds of willing volunteers to transform the painting “Freed” into a Hope Mural. The artist, a local Virginia resident, created her colorful pastel of a butterfly to illustrate how she started running to overcome the grief she felt after her mother passed away from lung cancer. She says: “I like to think that the butterflies Crossing my path Are my mom, Who is always with me— Especially when I run.” The D.C. Hope Mural was installed outside the Marie Reed Elementary School, located at 2201 18th St. NW, Washington, D.C.
