Kim Rogers’s husband John was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in 2003. She and her husband knew that some changes would be in order. Nutrition can play a vital role in a patient’s quality of life. Kim and John stopped eating food from boxes. They start their diet change after stage IV colon cancer in the produce aisle. Now they only prepare meals from fresh food. It is more nutritious and cheaper than eating processed foods. Kim enjoys cooking and has learned some new techniques to cater to her husband’s health. Exercise is important, also. “Whether it be walking the dog to the mailbox or taking a hike or you know, walking around the mall without spending money. Those things were really important and they became parts of our lives,” Kim says.
