Deborah’s story: ABT and Me A moving patient story from Deborah Simms, who documents her treatment journey with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). After receiving her life-changing CLL diagnosis in 2011, at the age of 38, Deborah was committed to finding a cure. Four years later, she met a British physician, Professor John Gribben, who gave her a unique opportunity to take part in the ABT-199 (now known as venetoclax) clinical trial. She travelled half-way around the world to receive the new treatment and, now, in January 2017, Deborah is due to find out whether the treatment has worked. This programme has been sponsored by AbbVie through an unrestricted grant to the Patient Empowerment Foundation.
