David’s story | Stand Up To Cancer’s Great Canoe Challenge

David was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2012. Operated on within a week, he had the tumours removed and underwent nine weeks of chemotherapy.

‘I was only 25 and cancer wasn’t something I thought would affect me. When I went for my first chemo session and saw a frail lady who’d lost her hair, that’s when reality hit. And I burst into tears.’

David supports Stand Up To Cancer as it ‘fits with how I feel about cancer. I wanted to stand up to it, and to encourage other people to do the same!’ Now David is channelling this energy into the Great Canoe Challenge, and even bought a rowing machine to help get him ready!
