Carolyne O’Brien discusses her Acute Myeloid Leukaemia
Carolyne discusses her AML. She is self-employed and was about to open her own hair and beauty business when she was diagnosed in 2013. She was feeling faint and had reflexology when the reflexologist thought she was unwell. Later in the video she discusses coping with a long hospital state, problems and coping with hair loss. She talks about stem cell transplant and high dose radiation and graft versus host disease. She also mentions other complications such as numbness / dysaesthesia / inflamed skin. Later she mentions issues of confidence, anxiety, role and return to work. She gives a good account of coping with restrictions whilst immuno-suppressed.
