Health Literacy: Scientist Bob’s story
The health literacy movement has shown that sharing personal stories and building greater awareness of the issue can be a catalyst for change. Every healthcare provider and every healthcare organization has a responsibility to make sure people understand what they need to know and what they need to do every time they engage with the healthcare system.
To move that conversation forward, we talk with Bob Ternik. Bob is a pharmacist and a scientist with over 30 years in the healthcare industry. He’s also a two-time cancer survivor with a very personal story to tell as a patient.
Joining the conversation is Linda Neuhauser, a researcher from UC Berkeley and an international leader in the fields of health communication and health literacy. Linda’s work focuses on understanding problems people have with health communication and what can be done to improve it.
